OVERVIEW

Describe any restrictions or regulations regarding Health & Wellness communications in your country/region including:

There is a code of conduct for depictions of suicidal themes in Australian advertising and media. These guidelines suggest refraining from describing specific methods of suicide, as this is a likely trigger for those in a vulnerable mental state.

Health & Wellness work must demonstrate how it meets the criteria 'life-changing creativity'. Why is your work relevant for Health & Wellness?

Male suicide is the largest killer of men under 40. By creating "Be a man of more words", we created a new ideal for men to aspire to, one that rejects the stoic stereotypes of generations past, and encourages those who are struggling to speak up.

Write a short summary of what happens in the film

We open on Mark. A friendly, likeable man who, among his friends, is known as a "man of more words". A voiceover introduces Mark, explaining his many character quirks, such as his signature one word text message replies, short speeches and reputation as a "good listener". But gradually, Mark's mood begins to change. We see him having an introspective moment on his own, and we catch a glint of sadness in his eyes. We then cut to Mark, sitting in a garage, speaking directly to camera. It is revealed that the voiceover we've been hearing is in fact his voice. Mark, a man of such few words, is now speaking to the viewer, asking us to be like him, and become and man of more words.
