Tell the jury about the art direction.

‘Bigger Christmas Trees’ was an opportunity for him to continue his distinctive, charming and bold style at a scale he’d never attempted before.

“Battersea Power Station is such a beautiful building, I wanted to decorate it in a way that I hoped would bring joy and hope to Londoners”, said Hockney.

Drawn on iPad, each of the two trees were crafted specifically to maximise the canvas of the towers at Battersea Power Station, and create a mesmerising 10 minute animated loop that shone out over the London skyline.

With Hockney’s idiosyncratic handwritten style designed to sign-off the piece and bring brand attribution. A contemporary interpretation of a holiday icon, the piece reinterpreted a Christmas tradition in a spectacular way.
