CampaignDescription
In a survey done by Bola Pra Frente, 93% of the kids said that they felt safer inside the Institute than anywhere else.
Bullet holes, scattered on the walls of Favela do Muquiço, show that violence is always around the corner.
What if we passed on the work done by Bola Pra Frente, transforming the environment in which these kids and their parents live?
Through graffiti, we've transformed bullet holes into billboards for the Bola Pra Frente.
Execution
We've invited a graffiti artist, who's a former student from the Institute, to illustrate tactical schemes over bullet holes on the walls. They're strong and colorful pieces that transformed the scenery once tinged by violence.
The art pieces were accompanied by a message to parents and kids: "Life changes inside the four lines".
We've transformed bullet holes into billboards to show the transformative power of Bola Pra Frente.
Outcome
We could reach out parents and pass on the work done by the Institute.
At the beginning of the year, Bola Pra Frente had 600 new enrollments in its program. 600 kids away from crime.
Besides that, our art work changed the scenery in which they live, giving life to the place.
Relevancy
In a poor crime-ridden community, conventional media is almost non-existent.
In this environment, we've transformed bullet holes into billboards for an NGO that keeps kids away from crime.
With this unconventional media, we've passed the transformative power of their work on.
Strategy
In a poor, crime-ridden community, conventional media is non-existent.
Parents over there should be reached out with a different approach.
People in Favela do Muquiço live surrounded by bullet holes. On a daily basis they're hit by this sad reality. So we've used this in our favor.
We've mapped out the place and created billboards there.
Synopsis
Favela do Muquiço is one of the most violent favelas in Rio de Janeiro.
A place that has been forgotten by the State and controlled by crime, which uses kids as labor force in drug trafficking.
There, in this community, is Bola Pra Frente Institute, an NGO which works to keep kids away from drug trafficking through sports and education.
Even with a strong role in the community, there are parents who don't know about its work. As a consequence, 600 spots offered annually were not entirely filled. And many kids end up losing the opportunity to have their future transformed.
Our goal was to reach out to those parents about the work of the Institute and to fill all spots available for kids.
