Background
Beastie Boys Mike Diamond and Adam Horovitz tell you an intimate, personal story of their band and 40 years of friendship in this live documentary experience directed by their longtime friend and collaborator, filmmaker Spike Jonze. “Beastie Boys Story” premiered on the heels of the 26th anniversary of the release of Beastie Boys’ No. 1 charting 1994 album, “Ill Communication.” The film reunites Beastie Boys with director Spike Jonze over 25 years after directing the music video for the album’s immortal hit single, “Sabotage". The brief was to create a suite of assets leaning into the nostalgia and fandom around the Beastie Boys.

The poster merged the iconic License to Ill album art with the unique style and presentation of the Spike Jonze documentary experience.
Describe the execution
The design was illustrated to exactly mimic the execution of the original art and compliment the band's history while also moving their narrative forward.

Engaged the music community across Apple’s ecosystem and beyond, furthering the conversation with music fans to drive viewership of the documentary.
