Background

From Executive Producers Lee Eisenberg , Kumail Nanjiani, Emily Gordon and Alan Yang, Little America is an 8-episode anthology scripted series inspired by true authentic stories of immigrants in the United States. The series is not about telling “immigrant stories” - it's about human stories that feature immigrants. The award-nominated show features storytellers from around the world and over 90% of the writers and directors are either immigrants or the children of immigrants.

Describe the creative idea

Little America is a raw series, one that touches upon profound and real stories based on actual immigrants and their experience trying to carve out a life in America. Its authenticity and sincerity make it a show that benefits from a similar approach to marketing. Bells and whistles should be replaced with poignant portraiture and understand colors. At the same time, the design ethos at Apple puts a premium on iconography and simplicity – both of which align to a raw and earnest approach to marketing this show.

Describe the execution

The final creative for Little America utilized poignant and powerful moments captured on set with the talent while they were filming the series. We abandoned the flashy gallery shoot for a personal one on one interaction between our photographer and our talent. The result was a beautiful series of photographs that cut right to the heart of each episode. The showcase the scale of their experiences and juxtaposes the realities of trying to ‘make it’ in America. The final photography created a dynamic, graphic tapestry inspired by what makes America truly amazing – diversity of color, texture, tone, and composition. The cowboy was a iconic piece that transcended all of the episodes. It embodied the spirit of the series as a whole, while setting the tone for the subsequent episodic approach.

List the results

Lauded by critics, press, and fans as one of Apple TV+ best and most timely series - Little America was received with warm reception from audiences due to its universal and relatable themes proving that despite our differences or where we may come from, we all have stories that connect us as human beings. The campaign creative was an entry point into our story - intriguing potential viewers and fostering thoughtful social conversation while also driving impactful viewership through multiple mediums such as digital, OOH billboards, press, awards campaigns, and the vast apple ecosystem.
