Overview

Background

Since 2008, with the support of the Japanese government, we have collaborated with two designated non-profit organizations, the Japan Mine Action Service (JMAS) and the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) in three categories (anti-personnel demining, farmland and infrastructure development, and school construction) to revitalize the local community. We filmed these activities onsite and shared them through a film we produced.

Execution

We met and directly heard from many people in Cambodia: farmers, elementary teachers, students, parents, and members of Japan Mine Action Support (JMAS) and Cambodia Mine Action Centre (CMAC). We filmed these happy people, undaunted by the hardship of living with landmines, to produce an online movie. By producing a film that speaks to the Cambodian people's character and, most importantly, providing an objective account of the facts behind the company's efforts to assist those people, we sought to boost the brand's image.

Outcome

The company was recognized for putting into practice its commitment to "answer society's needs through our core business" by developing an anti-personnel demining machine, not merely as a construction machinery manufacturer, but also by drawing upon the company's production expertise and knowledge of craftsmanship. A treacherous land with mines underfoot became a safe and reassuring place to live. It also became a land with greater added value by building roads and elementary schools. The consistent support for "making places for life" that contributes to a self-sustained recovery for the entire community has gained the support of many people.
