Description
For the experimental radio station egoFM we had to create a promotional campaign which showed its slogan, “Any sound you can imagine”, in an unconventional way and attract as many new listeners as possible. The audience to be addressed consisted mainly of young people with an affinity for music and active participants when it comes to music.
Execution
Our installation was actually complete madness - but carefully planned and created in a way that people could understand.We placed 15 zebra finches and an e-guitar in a bird cage. The guitar was installed centrally and the cage was large enough for the birds to actually be able to move around freely in it. Each time the birds moved on the strings, they created unusual sounds and melodies. Previously unheard-of, unique and at the same time, simply 'different’. Just like egoFM.
Outcome
Many young people saw the installation, stopping before it and listening in fascination. Many of them now have a new favourite radio station: egoFM. The station succeeded in attracting many new listeners, especially opinion leaders when it comes to music. The fictitious artist ‘Nepomuk Mozart’ was even turned into a cult figure on egoFM, being given his own programme. Click-through rates to egoFM rose by 16%.
