OVERVIEW

Description

We decided to help them by using Facebook’s Memories feature which was just launched at the time of the campaign. Facebook's Memories feature was designed to remind the users their personal memories that they shared on Facebook one or more years ago. These human right violations had happened also one or more years ago and they have to be remembered.

Execution

We hacked the look of Facebook’s Memories posts and catched the users’ eyes while they scrolled down their timelines. We created social media posts which looked just like Facebook Memories posts this time reminding Turkey’s bad memories. We placed the cases of unsentenced human right violations, instead of personal good memories. We shared these posts on Facebook throughout the year, on the anniversary of each violation.

With every post we shared, we directed the users to an online petition to create public pressure and get justice for the unsentenced human violation cases.

Outcome

With a very limited media budget, we reached more than 250.000 Facebook users and gathered more than 50.000 signatures for the petition. The average share is 50 for each post.
