OVERVIEW

BriefExplanation

Express the punchy pithy brand voice of Kigo Kitchen in a dynamic blend of copywriting and typography. And as always, it had to be cool enough that people would hang it on their wall.

ClientBriefOrObjective

Generate neighborhood buzz and excitement around Kigo Kitchen. Kigo Kitchen is a Pan-Asian lunch and dinner joint that specializes in hot, fresh and (really) fast quick-fired bowls, catering to the busy 20 to 40 year old urban professional. They needed a brand identity that could capture their Asian street food roots and position them above the cheap cookie cutter, fast food lunch options. The graphic language needed to span across multiple store locations and across all mediums.

Implementation

Kigo Kitchen is inspired by adventure—found in the frenetic back alleys of the Pan-Pacific where some of the world's best street food is found. The posters are loud, bold and layered, referencing the fast and repetitious nature of being an alley chef. The bold, brushed type honours hand-crafted quick-fire bowls and straight forward messaging reflects communication on the kitchen line. Arched lettering and a heavy, hard-working typeface gives the brand a light Western touch. By combining the exotic soul of Pan-Asian street food, with simple touches of American style, we created a curious, dynamic, and flavorful brand experience.

Outcome

1. The posters have become iconic language of the neighborhood landscape.

2. Silkscreened versions quickly sold out.
