Why is this work relevant for Outdoor?

Adscan is a shopping tool that takes advantage of all brand´s outdoor ads everywhere and convert them into our new commerce platform. Through an innovative development and simple usability it achieves direct conversions represented in sales, just by scanning an ad of any brand you find in Makro. For customers it is a direct way to reach better prices and offers on the products they love, for the brands we sell it is a direct channel that saves efforts and budgets in sales, and for us it is direct sales without investing in OOH media.

In Colombia, the phenomenon of "Bargain Hunters" has become more relevant in recent years. A behavior that arises due to inflation and the increase in the cost of living in the country. Today millions of people are forced to look for the lowest prices that mean savings for their pockets.

In this context, Adscan was created as an opportunity for more Colombians to have easier access to those offers that allow them to alleviate their financial situation through their cell phones and using a simple tool.

Background:

• Situation

The presence of Makro Supermarkets in Colombia has two major barriers: on the one hand, a smaller number of stores than the competition, which are also located on the outskirts of the cities, and on the other hand, a much lower budget than the rest of retailers in the country. This is a major disadvantage in a market where consumers need to find the best price available at the most convenient location for them.

• Brief

We needed to attract new shoppers to Makro who were customers of other retailers, under the promise of better prices and offers. To achieve this, we had to use an outdoor strategy with a very limited media investment.

• Objectives

- Achieve higher traffic in our commerce channels.

- Increase the number of sales conversions.

- Increase our number of clients.

Describe the Impact:

We can potentially save over USD 1.1 MM in media budget and convert it into discounts for people.

We forecast 20.000 new clients a year

And USD 15.7 MM of brand´s media budget in our favor.
