OVERVIEW

BriefExplanation

Ronseal is well known for its honest approach to advertising and famous strapline, “Does exactly what it say on the tin” .

At the start of the football Season and during the World Cup, Ronseal took a straight talking approach one step further with its “Let’s be honest football’s more interesting the DIY” campaign.

This honest insight allowed Ronseal to spoof Sky Sports post match interviews with players and mangers. Instead of talking about the game they were talking about DIY and Ronseal products.

Comedians Darren Farley and Paul Reid brought the campaign to life with impersonations of well know players and managers.

SPORTS SHOW HOST: We asked a Premiership player about his painting his fence.

FOOTBALLER: Yeah, course, it’s a, it's a funny old fence, er, you know, on its day it’s unsprayable, so we had to take it one panel at a time, and just spray to the final whistle, you know 'cos it’s, it's a fence of two halves. Er, in the end we knew it’d only need one coat to, erm, paint the fence, but yeah, course, there were no losers today, it was just a great advert for fences. Yeah, course.

ANNCR: Let’s be honest, football’s more interesting than DIY, so get the job done. Ronseal
