This is a short film about a couple pulled apart by circumstances beyond their control. It is beautifully shot and edited in an evocative non-linear fashion that really helps to underscore the flood of images that hits the man and woman who are separated by a great distance on New Year's Eve.

It captures vignettes of the two before meeting, their first meeting, their early happy days infused with the glow of fresh love – buying a bed together, moving into a new home, the home being personalized, and many other moments that have taken on new meaning for the two this NYE they spend apart.

Then we see the two exchanging messages on WhatsApp and sense that while they would much prefer to be together, that these heartfelt messages at least provide some sense of solace.

This is a wonderful story told beautifully through cinematography, editing and color. It was wonderful to be able to support the filmmakers' vision by bringing out the hues captured on film and sometimes enhancing and pushing them in ways that help underscore the emotional content of each of the shots.

Some of the images of their early meeting and coming together are enhanced with the kind of saturation and warmth that often defines our happy recollections. Then, for some of the portions that are cut together more quickly, we enhanced the collage-like effect with streaks that help create the sense of whirlwind romance. And still other sections – less nostalgia-infused portions – are more straightforward with more neutral colors.
