Absolut has always believed in the power of creativity to instigate progress. To celebrate this belief we launched a global film that brings to life the most important creative night of all time. The Big Bang. From here the viewer travels along a high-octane journey through time, whizzing past some of the key creative moments that have shaped our existence. Through the creation of us. Of fire. Of dance. Of art. Celebrating key historical moments and figures that creatively pushed the world forward. Ending on tonight - an invitation for the viewer to create their own better tomorrow.

We started with a broad array of source material, spanning multiple eras, production processes and VFX techniques, which needed piecing into one conceptually coherent, frictionless flow of forward movement. The final film totalled 100+ shots, all of which require a CG or compositional treatment, plus four fully CG scenes, and the closing end frame.

The impression of depth and forward travel was key; static or shallow footage was built out, and transitions were delicately handled to avoid upsetting the overall flow. Each shot required meticulous R&D, and the teams established a process that would allow both simultaneously fine-tuning of transitions whilst working with the director to craft and compile specific images. The lead artists spent a lot of time with the edit, ensuring conceptual continuity, particularly in the direction and intensity of the lighting, to create a tactile, participatory feel for the audience.
