ClientBriefOrObjective
The Vienna Model-Maker’s Fair is Austria’s biggest fair for miniature toys and true-scale model reproduction. Due to the limited media budget, that is just about as small as the exhibits themselves, we hat to rely on an idea that attracts great attention for little money.
To raise awareness about the start of the fair in October we simply shrank the "Pummerin", one of the five biggest bells in the world, located in Vienna´s town landmark, the St. Stephens Cathedral.
Effectiveness
Once again the Model-Maker´s Fair was talk of town and the action reached more than 20,000 people in and around the St. Stephen´s Cathedral.
(Not bad for a media budget of nothing).
Execution
We constructed a 1:48 scale reproduction of the famous church bell which was connected to an extensive loudspeaker system that we secretly installed in the tower of the cathedral, directly under the real Pummerin.
And before the real pummerin could mark the end of the ceremonial service, our minuscule bell began to chime followed by a short message:
"You´ve just heard the Pummerin Bell chime in the scale of 1:87. The Vienna Model Maker´s Fair, 23rd to 26th October."
Strategy
Target audience:
Dyed-in-the-wool model assembly pros, collectors, tinkerers, Families and anyone interested in miniature toys and true-scale model reproduction.
