Why is this work relevant for Film Craft?

In creating a film that embodies the essence of FC Barcelona, the team emphasized unity through consistent color grading and locations. They avoided a digital appearance, favoring lo-fi analog to capture the raw feeling of Barça passion, utilizing real medical imagery and vintage equipment for authenticity. The film features unique representations of the club's colors in fans' veins, utilizing practical lighting and CGI. Highlighting the deep connection fans have with the club, it uses the original 'Cant Del Barça' hymn, blended with a fan's rendition, to express the universal bond of being a Culer.

Please provide any cultural context that would help the Jury understand any cultural, national or regional nuances applicable to this work.

The film was shot in Amsterdam, Barcelona and Suriname to represent and amplify the roots of both Barcelona and Patta. The focus was on the creation of a worldwide unity feeling, and for this reason people from different ethnicities were featured throughout the film, including Spanish, Dutch, Surinamese, Indian and Moroccan people among others.

Write a short summary of what happens in the film.

Across the globe, FC Barcelona's fans form an unmatched and devoted community where passion for the club is at the heart of their identity. The red and blue circulatory system symbolizes this spirit in the PATTAxFCBxNIKE line, emphasizing the connection between diverse Culers worldwide.

The film captures the essence of this shared love by showcasing a new generation of Culers. From distant corners of the world to the vibrant Camp Nou, their connection is visually represented by the recurring heart and veins. El Cant Del Barca, a nostalgic '70s anthem known to fans across languages, provides the perfect contrast to the spirited, contemporary Culers clad in vibrant PATTAxFCB gear. As a lighthearted and playful tribute to the love for FC Barcelona, the film pays homage to its rich history while embracing its evolving future.

Background:

The film aimed to bring to life the essence and visual philosophy of the human heart and circulatory system, metaphorically circulating fans' shared passion for Barça through veins (blau/blue) and arteries (grana/red), echoing the iconic colors of the Spanish club. This creative vision sought to capture the fervent passion and unified heartbeat of culers worldwide, positioning F.C. Barcelona as the pulsating heart at the forefront of global football. The project's objective was to symbolize this deep-rooted ardor and collective rhythm, with a nod to the club's heritage in the closing scene. This homage is depicted through a vivid recollection of fans' traditional practice of climbing and perching atop a tall wall adjacent to the old stadium, an inventive means to partake in Barcelona's matches without purchasing a ticket.

Tell the jury anything relevant about the cinematography.

Capturing Barça's passion, our cinematography embraced authentic, lo-fi visuals, shunning digital effects. We utilized actual medical scans, fine-tuned for authenticity, and re-captured footage via vintage CRM monitors. The film visually narrates fans' fervor, highlighting blue and red veins through practical lighting and a CGI heart, mirroring Barça's fervent spirit.

The film's aesthetic, akin to a premium photobook, features graphical, static shots from tripods, chosen to encapsulate moments that reflect real-life tableaus. The camera occasionally executes gradual pans, such as 360-degree sweeps in specific settings like a car in Morocco, to unveil the environment and the Culers passionately singing the anthem. To infuse a sense of playfulness and emphasize key subjects, we occasionally employ crash zooms. These distinctive visual techniques, combined with rapid editing of bold compositions, give the film a seamless flow and a unique stylistic identity.
