BriefExplanation
“Sons of a Binge” tells the story of people behaving in an appalling manner. Starting with a man who doesn’t move his legs of the centre table to let his wife pass, through to a not-so-nice lady who lets the delivery guy waiting outside in the rain whilst she finishes watching an episode, to a plain cruel woman who doesn’t take her walk out for his evening walk in order to keep binge-watching.
The storytelling highlights the concept “All that you shouldn’t miss”
created by the creative agency to transmit the message that the high-quality content provided by Fox Premium is truly unmissable.
Solution
This was a relatively low-budget shoot, selling very high-budget content, to a very critical and well-informed audience. The director made a conscious choice to make the film very dark, and very moody, this choice allowed him to hide the cracks that would otherwise be seen in a production of this kind, but also contributed creatively to the idea that binge watching can actually turn you into a rather dark and despicable being.
A conscious choice was also made to not over play the actors comedic side. Their rather natural acting combined with a more over-the-top narration is what brings the film it’s unique quality. What in the end actually makes it funny.
