OVERVIEW

BriefExplanation

To capture the essence of the prize winner.

This year’s prizewinner Hjalti Karlsson is one half of the design studio karlssonwilker. The two founders have worked side by side since starting up the studio in year 2000. However, the prize can only be awarded to people with Nordic roots, and Karlsson’s "partner in crime", Jan Wilker, is from Germany.

ClientBriefOrObjective

Design a poster and a catalogue for the Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize 2014.

Implementation

We portrayed the duo in their studio and painted over parts of the photo afterwards: Hjalti Karlsson's colleague Jan Wilker is included, yet not. (And he gets to share the prize money of $ 150,000, according to Karlsson.)

The solution is a tribute to Hjalti Karlsson, but also to a central aspect of many design processes — collaboration!

Outcome

The poster and catalogue have been reviewed on design blogs and got a third place in Resumé Magazine's "Design of the Month". The design also got some attention on Creative Review's CR Blog.
