Nanhi Kali is a non-profit organization that saves the lives of girls in India by providing means for them to attend schools for girls and providing an opportunity that they may not otherwise receive. We developed the Nanhi Kali iSite, http://www.girlsmiles.org. The site is a truly innovative internet 2.0 site used to generate donations and awareness without relying on traditional mediums. Sheyra is an online guide to help you make a difference across the web.
Implementation
The Nanhi Kali iSite was launched in 2008 to opinion-formers across the globe. Shreya guided these leading cultural figures through all the social networking and content sites already existing on the web. She guided them to Wikipedia for background information on the organization, to YouTube for documentaries, and to changethepresent.org for easy donations. Shreya also guided them to Google, blogs, and Facebook for content and community. This is the perfect idea for a non-profit organization, to utilize existing techonologies to get the message out, vs the investment in a website. Shreya is a human evolution of the internet.
Relevancy
This is 2008, the age of Google and Facebook. We wanted to be the leading non-profit, by asking our partners to reinvent the way we do marketing. The Nanhi Kali iSite created over 10,000 new leads, and more than 900 new donations from across the globe, which led to thousands of dollars in new financial aid for the young girls Nanhi Kali supports. This does not even include the value of all the publicity we received on the internet and all the new social networking groups that were formed during the execution of this iSite.
