Why is this work relevant for Design?

Webook, a recently launched platform enabling the purchase of tickets and live streaming for significant events in Saudi Arabia, has unveiled a distinctive brand identity. Our design embodies the brand's essence, featuring a dynamic and versatile logo resembling a window to the world of entertainment. The energetic and vibrant color palette brings the brand to life, complemented by a unique typeface and a distinctive visual language that ensures recognition across various contexts. Webook not only breaks design boundaries but also enhances the brand's functionality with its innovative form.

Saudi Arabia has transitioned from nearly lacking any entertainment venues to emerging as a central hub for cultural gatherings, artistic showcases, and cinematic experiences in the Middle East. This transformation is credited to Vision 2030, a reform initiative introduced by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in 2016 with the goal of reshaping the Kingdom socially and economically. Part of this strategy involves increasing Saudi household expenditure on cultural and leisure activities within the country to 6 percent. The annual Riyadh Season has evolved into a prominent global fixture, hosting significant entertainment and sporting events that draw numerous visitors and tourists from around the globe. This year, the season aims to attract 10-12 million visitors, including over one million tourists from outside the Kingdom.

Given these developments, the establishment of an official platform for ticket reservations and the provision of information, perks, deals, and services for visitors became imperative.

Background

Webook is a brand-new ticketing and streaming platform. They function as a gateway to a world of entertainment for Saudis. People can book tickets to concerts, sporting events, experiences, stream content and so much more. As such they needed an identity that would stand out, while explicitly express all they embody, and diverse enough to cater to the various branding and communication opportunities.

Describe the creative idea

The concept behind the design was to distinctly embody the essence of Webook, which is to serve as a pioneering gateway to entertainment. By incorporating elements of the brand's name, we crafted an emblem that represents a portal into an entertainment universe. This vibrant, ever-changing identity not only reveals forthcoming events but also mirrors the diverse colors found in our events. This guiding principle is deeply ingrained in the identity and extends across all forms of communication, collateral, and merchandise.

Describe the execution

By expanding the letterforms to the edge of legibility, we created a constantly evolving logo that constantly reveals upcoming events and transporting the viewer into a world of entertainment. The brand identity is adaptable, dynamic, and lively mirroring the vibes of the events allowing for effortless and imaginative application across various communications, collateral and merchandise.

We developed an entire typeface inspired by the logo, which we utilized to craft engaging keywords for various collateral pieces.

We also designed whimsical and playful patterns, each drawing inspiration from distinct elements of the events covered by Webook. These include motifs like the checkered flags from Formula E and confetti from concerts.

The logotype is crafted to adapt seamlessly to various formats and sizes, whether it's for billboards, posters, digital displays, arena branding, and more.

List the results

Since its launch a few months ago, the app has attracted over 4 million users, resulting in more than 10 million tickets being issued and over 1 million people streaming live events.
