TURNER DUCKWORTH, London / METALLICA / Q PRIME / 2014
Overview
Credits
BriefExplanation
Our designs needed to represent the duality of live and theatrical performances, and also build appeal for both Metallica fans and the general audience.
ClientBriefOrObjective
We were asked to create posters for Metallica's 3D film release, Metallica Through the Never. The film intersperses a Metallica performance with the narrative of a roadie, played by Dane DeHaan, for an immersive experience.
Implementation
We photographed Dane and combined the graphics of his bandana with that of Metallica performing to represent the duality of live and theatrical performance in the film.
Both posters feature a graphic from the film - an iteration of the band logo's iconic "M." We used this as a graffiti element, striking through the word "Never" to create a visual shorthand for the movie's title.
