Few Brazilians are aware of the seriousness of the refugee crisis in the country: more than 262,000 refugees and migrants are living in Brazil, number that has grown 6x in the last 2 years.
To raise awareness on this theme during Brazil's biggest literary event we have used one of the most iconic books in modern literature.
After an exhaustive search through more than 100,000 photos in the MSF image database, 38 images of real refugees and migrants were cropped and merged on a poster, recreating Gustave Doré's ilustration for Dante's Inferno.
The printed posters with different claims were spread in schools and universities reaching an important audience of the Biennial, in addition to social platforms and OOH. The image also came to life on a webpage and on an interactive panel at MSF stand at the fair, where it was possible to navigate through each story in a timeline.
