This John Lewis and Waitrose Christmas commercial “Give a Little Love’ launched on World Kindness Day. Across nine scenes combining live action and multiple animation styles, we skip through the multiverse, capturing small moments of kindness, 2020's most iconic haircut and a school of sentient pigeons, all to an original track by Celeste.

The film is internationally relevant and translatable to all audiences. That was the aim really. To show how wonderful life would be if we all helped others out with the little things. Small gestures that have big impressions. It follows the tread of a continuous narrative and shows the importance of kindness and offering help to strangers in need.

The direction of this film was nothing short of a Herculean feat. Given just 10 weeks from conception to completion, the director completely re-wrote the script, shaping it to what we see today. From there the film was storyboarded and began editing whilst the hunt for the various animators commenced. This curation of animators was completely bespoke, the director hand picked animators from all backgrounds, being lead by their creativity and hand made feel of their work. Once all animators had begun work, the director was pulled in many directions but kept communication paramount in order to guide all animators at all times. The live action chapters of the film were also shot during this phase. Finally once all parts were compiled the fine turning of the edit began as well as the post production clean up. This project was a real test of craft and accomplishment.
