CampaignDescription
We developed a new expressive method called “Plotter Drawing” where digital information is converted into physical mechanical movement and drawings are drawn with writing utensils such as pencils, ballpoint pens and brush pens. Unintended scrapes and nonuniformity resulting from physical factors such as friction and weight are characteristic expressions and Plotter Drawing intentionally create such “captivating trouble.”
We were successful in showing the possibility of “new expression” where the digital and the physical coalesce by developing this method.
Execution
We have a video that summarizes the making process.

Outcome
The exhibition was for 2 weeks in October 2017 at Shibuya Hikarie 8/, which is also an art base of Tokyo.
We also sold collected works and exhibition posters and more than 3,000 people visited the exhibition.
The venue is a hub as well where designers of various countries visit and we were successful in disseminating the possibility of coalescence of digital fabrication and graphic design.
Synopsis
Digital format is an indispensable tool in today’s creative industry, and creators have continuously created works faster and more accurately by utilizing various types of software.
However, digital expression, which lacks physical mass, seems to have lost expressive depth in place of accuracy and efficiency.
In an exciting digital era today, the appeal of physical expression should be reexamined.
