OVERVIEW

Why is this work relevant for Design?

The creative team, consisting of art directors, graphic designers, and retouchers, used their imagination, technique, and Photoshop to transform an ordinary stock photo into stunning works of art.

"PS in the Landscapes" is a series of eight landscape images that, while fictional, are surprisingly realistic and exquisite. Upon closer inspection, you may notice the playful incorporation of hidden typography within each visual, subtly forming the letters P and S.

With these visuals, we aimed to communicate and spread the Thought Leadership Project.

As AI's influence grows across various fields, the creative industry is no exception, sparking concern among creators worldwide about the future of their professions, particularly in Japan.

In fact, the replacement of jobs by AI is being talked in all sorts of contexts.

Consequently, Gen AI adoption is relatively low compared to other countries.

While Firefly is gaining momentum, Japanese Creative Professionals are apprehensive about the emergence of AI, which may be contributing to the relative slow adoption of AI features.

Background

Conduct Thought Leadership campaign by communicating a brand statement to the Creative professional community that praises the creators/works that continue to challenge their craft capabilities ultimately at the age of AI.

Create social interactions with Creative professional-focused media as the starting point, and tell the creators' stories through owned content.

By doing this, will maintain and improve Creative professional users' retention in product use and enhance Adobe's brand image in the creator community.

Describe the creative idea

Adobe has been striving with professional creatorshere in Japan to develop creative culture for over thecourse of 30yrs.

Therefore, at the age of AI, Adobe Japan wants to be close to the concerns of Creative Professionals, Adobe's core supporters, and inspire their creativity and craftsmanship.

In response to this, Adobe Japan initiated a project inviting creators who remain focused on their creative paths despite the emergence of AI and asked them to engage deeply with their passions and craft innovative work.

The creators conceived an idea to develop stunning, imaginative landscapes from an ordinary stock photo with their imagination and photo-retouching techniques.Bringing this idea to life required the creator’s skills and commitment even in the age of generative AI.

They channeled their passion, spirit, and dedication to their craft occasionally utilizing AI as a companion to push their creative boundaries and complete their projects.

Describe the execution

The creative team, consisting of art directors, graphic designers, and retouchers, used their imagination, technique, and Photoshop to transform an ordinary stock photo into stunning works of art.

"PS in the Landscapes" are amazingly realistic and elaborate fictional landscapes created from stock photos. Each landscape incorporates the letters P and S.

Intentionally designed landscapes are established with a precision that allows the viewer to sense human activity, and are created using elements on a scale that humans can imagine and empathize with.

Creating works that stimulate people's desire to zoom in on them gives creators the possibility and courage to create things even in the age of AI.

List the results

The goal of this thought leadership project is not to emphasize the attractiveness or ease of use of AI, but rather to allay fears about AI and inspire creators to believe in themselves and explore new possibilities.

This initiative further demonstrates Adobe's unwavering commitment to supporting the creative community. Adobe continuously strives to expand the horizons of creativity through technology, empowering creators to push their boundaries and unlock new avenues of expression.

During a talk session at the Adobe MAX Japan 2023 event, this project was introduced and received the second-highest evaluation from the audience. Additionally, planning is underway for this work to be featured in various media platforms including magazines, digital advertisements, and Adobe Japan's own media channels that touch on Creative professionals in the following May.
