Colombia is one of the most heavily land-mined country in the world. Many of the injured people by land mines are children. An amputation can be the most traumatic episode in children´s lives, the social impact can be traumatic in their lives regardless their disability.

The prosthesis that exist are uncomfortable, unfriendly, kids don´t want to use them and aren´t appropriate for the kids in order to what they want to do: PLAY.

Cirec Foundation has been dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of kids that have lost one of their limbs due the internal conflict, accidents or illness.

Cirec Foundation helps kids with disabilities between 3 and 12 years old. Through donations the kids can get psychological treatment and a functional prosthesis so they can reintegrate to the society. Furthermore, Cirec is in constant searching for better treatments and methods for the kids to help them in the most important thing they should be doing: PLAYING, because playing is the first method that the human being uses to know themselves and contribute to the development of cognitive and creative skills. ¿How can we create a prosthesis that catches the interest of a kid with disability?

Every kid loves to play and build things using LEGO. That´s why we created a prosthesis that let the kids build by themselves.

The Hack needs one connector brick to interconnect with the socket. The kid could assemble LEGO sets with his family or friends and then hack it to their own needs.

The battery contains a rechargeable battery and a processor that would translate the signals from the socket.

The socket is where the stump gets in contact with the prosthesis and is attached permanently to the battery and provides signals from the myoelectric sensors embedded in it.
