As a leading creative agency, Pearlfisher is renowned for championing creativity in incredibly diverse ways. But in December 2014, we wanted to take our own philosophy to unimaginable new depths.

Studies have shown that play can bring about extraordinary results for creative thinking. We therefore wanted to create an interactive installation in our studio that would champion the power of play in promoting creativity in both children and adults alike.

Execution

This was an exploration around how play impacts creativity rather than a commercial initiative. We therefore wanted to find a charity partner to benefit from the proceeds (donations from visitors and £1 donated from Pearlfisher on behalf of every visitor) and interest generated. The charity, Right To Play – who champion the transformative power of play to educate and empower children facing adversity – were therefore the perfect partner.

Outcome

Snow is renowned for encouraging play in us all and so, inspired by snowy winter scenes, we created JUMP IN! a highly immersive, interactive installation that invited visitors to dive into a pool of 81,000 soft white and motion sensor balls. It was a creative experience that promoted a sense of togetherness, creativity and positive human connectedness through the power of joyful play.

The installation received unprecedented interest, with over 9,000 booking requests and coverage across international online, print and broadcast press including The Independent, The Telegraph, The Times, CNN News, NBC News, The Wall Street Journal and Huffington Post. In addition, it created over 500,000 shares on social media.

Pearlfisher’s, JUMP IN! installation was an international phenomenon – driving the reputation of Pearlfisher as an agency who champions creativity in excitingly diverse ways and subsequently raising money for a hugely deserving charity.
