BriefExplanation
Peacefold consists of 21 different traditional images of war and violence that have been folded into paper doves. The challenge was to develop a campaign to help raise awareness around World Peace Day by transforming disturbing and violent images of unrest, re-appropriating their power into something positive. Peacefold showcases how creative thinking can help to turn images of violence into ones of peace, in turn creating a whole new visual language around peaceful action.
ClientBriefOrObjective
Peacefold was designed as a limited edition series to raise awareness of World Peace Day.
Implementation
The art of Origami, which translates literally to “folded paper,” is to transform a flat piece of paper into something sculptural. In that spirit, we folded violent and iconic images from around the world into sculptural doves. The dove or crane are both considered birds of peace and tranquility - by folding images of war into birds of peace, we are able to re-appropriate stigma and make images that are both powerful and positive.
Outcome
The Peacefold series was incredibly successful and we received orders and comments on the pieces from around the world. We received a personal message from Jeremey Gilley of Peace One Day, congratulating us on our efforts.
